On the men's side, freshman
Gary Romero-Garcia led the team with a time of 37:31.8, which placed him 70th out of 150 finishers. The time was good enough to rank 5th amongst CUNYAC community college runners and first among all CUNY community college freshmen. Sophomore
Jeremiah Nevers completed the 8 kilometer race in 53:25.5, while
Kazi Abdul Ahad finished in 58:58.7.
"It was a relief to get the first meet out of the way," said head coach Peter Briguglio. "Being a new program with a late start compared to our competition, I was thrilled to have all of my runners complete the race and come together as a team to support each other. We all learned a lot from today's races and look forwarding to building on this performance at future events."
The team is scheduled to compete this upcoming Saturday, October 7th at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.
