The Lady Red hawks were able to secure their first win of the season this Thursday, 54-47 over the Suffolk Sharks.
The Red Hawks were able to get off to a hot start thanks to the play of Sophomore
Shemiah Sealey. Sealey's shooting helped the Red Hawks build a first half lead and they went into the locker room up 31-20.
The third quarter saw the Sharks come out swinging. LaGuardia was hard pressed to find a way to slow down the Sharks, and when the third quarter buzzer sounded, the Red Hawks found themselves trailing by 1.
Refusing to quit after blowing the lead, the Red Hawks surged back in the fourth quarter. Combining some excellent team defense with the play of
Olithia Roach, (14 points, 16 rebounds) and
Moutiatou Djibring (16 points, 22 rebounds), the Red Hawks were able to dominate the fourth quarter and pick up their first win of the season.
The Lady Red Hawks look to make it two straight wins on Saturday at home against Kingsborough.
