The LaGuardia Red Hawks fell to Suffolk Community College 8-1 in their second game of the season.
The Red Hawks struggled to get a foothold in the game, as Suffolk took an early lead and dominated time of possession. If not for the solid defensive play of
Isaias Melendez and the goalkeeping of
Yahyaa Doumbia, the final score could have looked much worse.
The highlight of the game for the Red Hawks came late in the second half.
Moemen Shetta was able to find the back of the net and score the first goal in Red Hawks history. It was a huge moment for both the team and the school as LaGuardia tries to build their soccer program.
The Red Hawks next game will be at 1 PM on 9/9 against Westchester.
